We were all very excited to venture into the culinary world of Provo, me especially because I didn’t have to cook any of the meals and I could be a restaurant guest… Finally! Well, that’s not the whole truth, I did cook one evening I made a simple meal which consisted of me teaching Greg how to make roasted balsamic vegetables and pasta pomodoro with salad. I do have one suggestion… DON”T drink “rum punches” all day and then try to cook while on vacation… it doesn’t work!

This is the list of restaurants we went to and our group opinion over all … some good and one not so good! We chose to watch the sunset with champange and laughs at Magnolia, we had a great time in the bar that night and noticed how nice the terrace was, so we decided the next night we would try dinner. Pauline in the bar is a great asset for Magnolia, as well as the server assistants. The owner and manager are A WHOLE OTHER STORY.

We arrived for dinner at 8:30 and the restaurant was half empty , the owner told us to wait in the bar as no tables were available… we didn’t want to go to the bar and I asked why we couldn’t have a table. With a huff and quick step he escorted us to a table and dropped the menus on the chair. Second, he told us they only serve bottled water. Ok, it gets better… we ordered dinner and I had filet with a red wine demi glace. What came out on my filet was red wine watered down and runny……awful! So me being a cook in the kitchen and making sauces every day asked politely if I could have more sauce and questioned if that sauce was the demi glace!?! The manager returned to the table and without hesitation, poured the sauce right on my plate, and then said… “If you don’t like that sauce maybe this is more your style!” and handed me a bottle of A1 and walked away. I could not believe it. That was the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant on the island and I am sure it happens frequently at Magnolia.

Another restaurant selection was brought to our attention, “SIMBA”, at the Turks and Caicos Club by guests at the Coral Gardens. They had dined the night before and loved it……as we did too! Excellent choice, we told Tony the owner that we were reffered by many people on the island and he was gracious and friendly, talked to us and found out we owned a restaurant. He then brought out Conch 3 ways for us to try……Simba is one not to miss!
